Tax Refund and
Rebate Check or Deposit
There may be many
reasons why you want that tax refund check. It may be to
pay your mortgage or rent or to go on the vacation you
have delayed way too much. One thing is for sure once you
make that tax deposit your plans will go into high gear.
So considering your plans it makes it all the more
difficult to wait till you get that tax refund. You
should also realize that not every tax refund results in
a check or deposit in your bank account. Some taxpayers
elect to have their refund applied to the next year or a
tax refund may be taken to offset taxes not paid in a
prior year.

NYC residents need
that tax refund no more than ever
Why is a
tax refund bad?
You probably think that getting a tax refund
is like winning the lottery or some sort of contest. A better
example may be making a deposit in a bank where you do not
receive interest, does that sound like a good deal? If you
think of it as money that you already earned possibly thirteen
months ago the tax check you receive might not seem so great
anymore, when you realize that by filling out a correct form
W-4 you may have seen that money quite a while ago and would
not be waiting on it now. In fact even if you are not paying in
any withholding you could actually get your earned income tax
credit paid to you during the year in advance of your tax
filing by giving your employer the right
forms.
What is the
fastest way to get your tax refund check?
You may
want to consider doing direct deposit into your checking
account to get your money faster, it surely would save you the
trip to the bank. Faster than that may be electronic filing of
your tax return which would get your taxes filed quicker. Other
taxpayers have used a Refund Anticipation Loan to get that
refund it a few short days. Please be aware that there are fees
associated with refund anticipation loans and they can add up
to a very high percentage rate for the number of days you have
the use of the money.
